
The St. Georges Hawks fended off the Appoquinimink Jaguars in a tough Flight A battle. The Hawks scored the last 5 points of the game to come away with the 53-50 victory over the cross town rival Jagurs. St. Georges big man Joshua Obiora was involed in all 5 of those points to help his team get the win.
With 1:35 left down 50-48 St. Georges Shane “Speedy D” Davis stole the Appo inbounds pass and drover for a layup, but missed. Obiora was right there trailing the play as he leaped to grab the tough rebound and put the ball right back up for an easy layup to to tie the game at 50. On the next play Appo’s Dillon Griffith got pased his defender to attempt a jumper in the lane, but Obiora blocked the shot which landed in Davis’s hands who found the streaking David “Meatball” Crawford for an easy breakaway layup to take the 52-50 lead.
Appo had a few chances to tie or take the lead however they were unable to make a shot. As time was expiring the Jaguars were forced to foul which they fould Obiora sending him to the free throw line. Joshua hit the first free throw, but missed the second. Appo’s least second shot attempted missed everything as the Hawks celebrated the win.
Obiora led all scorers in the game with 20 points. He went 7-13 from the free throw line and had a few exciting dunks as well. Crawford added 10 points to jppin Obiora in double figures. TJ Harvey lepp Appo scoring 16 points hitting 4 three’s.
